Rethinking Digital Rights and Remedies

SFLC.in is hosting a discussion on “Beyond the Report Button: Rethinking Digital Rights and Remedies” and expanding RightsLine, SFLC.in’s 24/7 pro bono digital rights helpline, to strengthen awareness and prevention of digital harms.

SFLC.in’s RightsLine, a 24/7 digital helpline providing pro bono legal assistance to individuals facing digital rights violations, has highlighted operational gaps in existing digital grievance redressal mechanisms, particularly those regarding content takedown and cyberscams.

Alongside the launch of RightsLine, the event will examine these gaps through two panel discussions, ‘Scam vs System: The Race Between Fraud and Response’ and ‘User Rights: Between Platforms and Processes,’ bringing together stakeholders from government, technology platforms, civil society, and the creator community to examine these challenges and explore ways to make grievance redressal mechanisms more transparent, accessible, accountable, and effective.
